Do you have some personal grudge against 'doctors' Phil?

What on earth makes you think that ?  You argue that someone who cooks in a BIR T/A does not deserve to be called "Chef", I argue in return that the lack of an MD does not prevent us from consulting a GP and addressing him or her as "Doctor".

Phil, there is a huge difference between going for a takeaway and visiting your doctor.

Your post was full of abbreviations (my old dad always said 'never trust a man who talks in abbreviations')

I don't think that someone who makes curries in TAs (I didn't say restaurants) is a chef. More of a cook.

I feel certain we both agree on that :)

Only where the words are rarely if ever spelled out in full.  (Almost) no-one writes of "general practitioners"; they write of "GPs"; -- ditto -- with "Bachelor of Medicine" ("BM"), "Member of the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology" ("MRCOG") and so on.  I did gloss "MD" because, being Latin, it is slightly less obvious than the other abbreviations.

Well, if I had a complaint about something I'd had from a T/A, and went back to complain in person to the person who had prepared it, I wouldn't ask the front-of-house man if I could speak to the cook; I would ask if I could speak to the chef.  To my mind, it is a matter of politeness and respect.

And this was on-topic, Graeme ?  The thread title was "Curry Crisis" and the topic under discussion was the problem of recruiting trained BIR staff.

Two blokes standing in a bar and one says to the other...

"I agree. I think it's much better than the heavy censorship used on some forums. If anyone doesn't like this thread, just pick another one to read, instead"
They then drink beer and smile at each other...

 Aww  :)

Set an example, Graeme, and you will be in a position to criticise others; until then ...

I've read this thread from the very beginning, Graeme, and I don't see a single on-topic post from you.  May I suggest you either put up, or shut up ?
