Congratulations!
« on: June 04, 2010, 05:29 PM »
23 out of the 30 "most recent posts" (i.e. a whopping 77%!) are now absolutely nothing to do with (British) Indian curries (and the percentage rarely drops below 50%).

Time to finally move on I feel, the plot seems to be well and truly lost, I'm sorry to say :-\

Shame you feel that way CA, albeit it, that the post's you mention have been posted in the "Anything other than curry" section!

Activity over the last couple of evenings have been particularly slow, boring infact.

With a bit of luck, the "curry testers section" will generate some conversation and hopefully, inspire ALL members to challenge the reviews and get back to searching for the answers that we're all looking for.

Ray :)

I agree, it's just too hot for curry at the moment. No doubt the rain will be back by Sunday so the curry chat will continue.

Baking and humid here. Dunno what the problem is CA. I thought it relaxed and a lot of fun. It's why I started posting again.

CA,

i'm with u on this one. the weather does have an effect as we already know from the past. the other posts are not a problem as i don't bother to read them.

what is important to me is to further enhance our curry expertise. i also suppose if others are similar to my position we are sort of stuck on how to make further progress.

I fail to see why "the weather" entices people to talk about anything but curry!

The forum seems to have become a bit of a "Woman's Institute" chit chat forum to me!  Just meaningless chit chat for the sake of it!  As you say Ray, it's VERY boring (except, perhaps, to a small number of members)!

I cannot, for one minute, believe that anyone would come here ( A BRITISH INDIAN RESTAURANT RECIPE AND CHAT FORUM!) and anticipate the forum being inundated with discussions on roast beef, pizza, doughnuts, chips, computer viruses and such like!

By the way, it's now at 29 out of 30 most recent posts (97%!!!!!!) being about anything other than BIR curries!

Well done guys, read 'em an' weep!  :(

Yes, yes, typically the comment I'd expect from you SS, "you tedious little man"  ::)

But you're right, I am definately on the wrong forum.  I thought it was primarily about BIR curries. It seems I am sadly mistaken  :-\

I fail to see how members discussing topics in a section that invites discussion of other things detracts from the forum. On the contrary, it invites people to post on a variety of different subjects that they may feel more comfortable and helps to get people involved.

The lack of discussion on the remainder of the forum? Well, it's hardly surprising with all the negative posting that has been made recently. There are many amongst us who do want to discuss and develop ideas in an attempt to move forward, but when the topics are continually derailed with arguments and aggressive posts, you find that the discussion moves to PM. I have a alot of pm's sitting in my inbox most of which are largely to do with BIR and moving forwards.

If you want to look at why members aren't posting then I suggest you look there first. Afterall, who wants to join or post on a forum when long term members continually argue. To imply that it is the fault of others, myself included, is simply not on.

It's certainly not a very friendly forum at the moment. I go out of my way to welcome newcomers that take the trouble to say hello along with Razor and one or two others, but no-one else seems to takes the trouble to do so. A fact that both of us have noticed.

Rather than complaining, arguing or just being negative, why not start a new topic to discuss the curry you want to discuss. Posting sarcastic topics is not endearing and does nothing to rectify the problem.

I'm sorry if you feel that it is not my place to say anything but I can not just sit here reading all this nonsense without feeling disappointed. If you feel that you can not contribute positively anymore, then perhaps you should move on. But myself and i'm sure many others of this forum would rather prefer it if you found a way to continue on in a positive way.
