apologies but i've skipped to the end of this post.

i think in a nut shell for me the site clearly needs a chat room - the dribble can go on in their to it's hart's content.

why i say this is for individuals to think "before" posting how usefull u're individual post is to the rest of the membership - trawling through dribble to find the key nuggets is just boring and a waste of time.

i think other posts do have an important part in the forum and i've really appreciated the beef, chips etc it's just the dribble that's creeping in.

we do seem to have lost the focus or plot though - to collectively improve our BIR skills - this is what the site is good at - we don't want to loose it by being collective plonkers.

Too hot for curry???? you should be banned! its never either too hot or too cold for curry!.
This week ive made a chicken Balti, prawn balti madras, and aloo balti and balti madras.
All of them were lovely, all of them made with Dipuraja's recipe(minus the paste) and i must say that i think Dips recipes are the dogs.

I think rather than complaining that people aren't talking about curry, wouldn't it be better to actually start discussions that ARE curry related to get people talking rather than whinging and causing more bad feeling about topics posted in the OFF TOPIC section (it is what it's there for, after all!) ???

Thanks Ermin that made me larf royally  ;D
I've seen one of those  ::)

Seriously though, Domi has it in my view. Start a curry food topic, I can't believe we were slammed for talking about chippy Chips in the non curry section. Its a common question which I think was answered very well by many.

I'll get back to my curry cooking ways soon, I've had a lot on frankly.
As they say over here.
Peaceout.
Best regards to all.
Me.

It's not about stopping non curry chat - that's what it's there for and adds to the site for me and i'm sure a lot of members. beef, chips whatever it is - it's well worth posting when there is value to the membership.

the issue is all about the value of the post - there is chat and post - we're currently (and have done so off and on in the past) doing both in post and that's not good for anyone. trouble is at the mo chat is more to the detriment of post.

the real worry for me is that no one inc CA seems interested in pushing our BIR learning.

ps quality of posting is spot on today for me

Jerry, i'd agree to a point that on a serious topic it is better to stay with the main course of the topic. That is why a forum needs moderators, to ensure that topics that derail or go off topic can be tidied up. But in topics that aren't so serious, it's good to have a little light hearted humour or banter.

I often wonder whether the option to view recent posts adds to the problem. For some reason, I have never got into the habit of using this feature on any forum and rely simply on the icons of each forum section to tell me where new posts are to be found. This does mean that I can simply pick the topics I want to read, without having to scroll through all the replies in general.

I am sure there are quite a few of us that want to move with the BIR quest. New members joining will almost certainly want to. Topics will get repeated and old ground re-covered. But we have have to encourage people to post if we are to move forward.

Sorry, Jerry I was referring to comments made about topics posted in the off-topic section. I appreciate that off-topic chat/banter can be annoying in threads and have taken on board what you said, luv ;) Consider my wrist slapped lol ;D
