Blimey, it wasn't mean to provoke this kind of discussion!    Sorry for any offence caused folks, it was a curiousity, nothing more.  I am happy for this thread to be removed, thanks to various members for their helpful suggestions, I hadn't realised there was such rivalry between the two sites (in fact I hadn't even realised there was another serious forum until recently, and I've been here since 2006!)

I don't see any reason for the thread to be modified in any way, locked by Admin maybe but not tampered with.  There are several  threads on this site that became a lot more heated and acidic compared to this one.  It would be good if we forum members could now move on and get on with the business of BIR curry making and discussion,  confining this thread to the past.  Hopefully, the dust will settle and there will be no major implications from its posting -  fingers crossed

Wise words.  I for one will take no further part in this debacle.  I am only here for the beer (sorry, curry).

Just to clarify, no personal dig was intended sp.  And yes there is bitter rivalry between the two sites, for some members at least .  Best confined to the annals of history

sp, if it wasn't this thread it would have been another. I've seen much worse in my short time on here. It actually does a forum no harm in a way. The "secret onion paste" debated years ago on cr0 between, I'm assuming adult males is particularly ludicrous. Julian c2go was slaughtered by a few on here when he surfaced, it is a curry debating forum after all.

I agree -  you speak wise words. I just hope that Admin doesn't come along and lock or delete the thread, when we lack the consensus for 'self-regulation' based on my attempt at democratic moderation. I could lock or delete it, but I don't appear to have the mandate.

I also agree there have been far worse threads on here. I certainly don't hold any grudges, short term or long term against anybody. It's interesting, also, that these threads attract interest like no other, so it can't be all bad.

Leave the thread where it is and the full content of the thread - everyone on the forum as members is entitled to have a say - there has really been no personal insults as such - from this I've joined RCR also. As far as i'm concerned we all make curries some more regular than others so the interests are all the same.

I think this site is great its easy to navigate round and there is a wealth of knowledge on here! From everyone who actually contribute with recipes.

As per all forum sites there are many who contribute absolutely NOTHING! Which is made up with the talent waiting to show their efforts with pictures or recipes.

You don't need to be convinced! I see it as a near-fact. Whenever I click on argumentative threads, I see about a dozen member names also listed as viewing the thread. On other threads, it might be two or three people. Let's not bring paedophiles into the discussion.

If you want to use an extreme example, then so will I. With some of the threats made on this thread, it did occur to me it was a bit like the threats made by the commandants of Japanese POW camps in WWII. Like, if even one person escaped, then something like a dozen others might be selected and executed, to punish a high number, just because you have a grievance against one person. Insane.
