Why not leave the original post and the informative replies in place, George, and just delete the troll(s) and the responses they elicited ?  The original message was perfectly valid, and some of the responses were analytic and helpful.

OK, good idea, and I'll be pleased to do that. Do you agree I should get 75% agreement before proceeding, or live dangerously and proceed a.s.a.p? I dont think any of us are trolls though. We just have opinions.

Chris, the forum has 19167 members, of whom 2 1/2 (0,01%) are disruptive.

Hopefully the irony is not lost on you phil?  ::)

Completely lost, I am afraid.  Is it safe to ask for enlightenment, or is that likely to lead to further disruptive exchanges ?

Two things I have deduced from this thread (and forum); 1 - the passion for cooking the perfect BIR curry is second to none (highly commended), 2 - I think maybe we might drink too much when posting comments and replies (enjoyable but not highly recommended)
This is an excellent site, we don

My vote - leave the posts as they are. Lock the thread perhaps but do not delete.

Happy to expand with reasons but suffice to say, moderators should not get involved in this type of diatribe. I do not mean offence by that but the thankless task of moderation should be restricted to just that and cannot and should not be combined with the type of comments made within this thread.

Do please give some idea of how it can be justified to leave this thread intact?

On the subject of moderation, I say again that I don't see my role as that of a typical 'judge and jury' moderator. I'm just a normal member performing an admin role. I think it's better, but you might not agree. Perhaps you'd prefer a goody-goody moderator whose decision is final on all matters. I hate that style of moderation, speaking as a user/member of forums.

Also, if nobody can tell me what I said to stir up so much trouble, Ill have to conclude I didn't do much wrong, and I was simply on the receiving end of a load of threats and bullying, partially from people seeking attention.

It is justified by the right of all members to have their say ( yes including you ) provided that that say is within the rules of the forum and do not go outside the boundaries of decency etc.  what right therefore follows for an individual to choose which posts get deleted and which do not just because others disagree?

I do not intend to make further comment regarding your style of moderation. Life is really too short and I have some curry porn to upload.  ;)

I don't see any reason for the thread to be modified in any way, locked by Admin maybe but not tampered with.  There are several  threads on this site that became a lot more heated and acidic compared to this one.  It would be good if we forum members could now move on and get on with the business of BIR curry making and discussion,  confining this thread to the past.  Hopefully, the dust will settle and there will be no major implications from its posting -  fingers crossed ??? ???
