Hi tongey

Just seen your picture thread - wow what a lot of curry! good job looks very delicious. What Kebab recipe do you use?

If you are interested in trying another great recipe then Razors recipe is in my opinion superb too! (http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=4393.0). Razor also has an updated version on page 8 although it is probably worth reading the whole thread for tips etc.

Cheers

I agree with SP on this, I made some of these kebabs last night and they turned out excellent, what impressed me besides was that I managed to acquire some long square shafted tandoori skewers from the local asian shop for

Hey Whandsy

I've searched high and low for kebab skewers and cannot find anything... not even on ebay. I am going to get some made at a metal fabrication shop. Wide flat skewers...I don't care how much they cost  :P

Hi Mick

How about these? It's the 1st place I've checked. I just typed in tandoori skewers .au into google and this came up.

http://www.tandoorliving.com.au/Tandoor-tandoori-skewers-for-sale.html

The good thing about these compared to the round skewers is that the meat turns around as well as the skewer whereas the meat stays where it is and the round skerwer rotates >:(

Happy shopping pal

Cheers Whandsy, but I was looking for a flat skewer.

Even with these square skewers, the meat can still spin around if the mixture is a little loose.

I found these on ebay http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/FLAT-BBQ-SKEWER-STAINLESS-STEEL-25mm-Wide-3mm-thick-FLAT-500mm-LONG-/180786603909?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_15&hash=item2a17b8a785

but at  $ 23.50 each plus postage, :o  it's a joke. I know I said (at any cost) but I need to re-phrase that to any sensible cost.

I want 10 skewers, i'm sure I can get some made at a metalworkers here for less than $235 plus postage.

I'll let you know if/when I get some. :)

Have a search around Turkish shops/ wholesalers. Traditionally an Adana Kebab is cooked on a flat skewer, and looks exactly like tongey's kebabs.

It just so happens......that I got 4 of them which I can send you if you want. I received them today brand new. I ordered the square ones and the guy sent these by mistake. I paid ?13 for the 4. You can have them for the same price + postage if you want? If you are interested send me an inbox. I will get a picture on here now.

Thanks SP. Yes, I am definitely going to make Razors kebabs. Wanted to make them today. Got all the stuff ready to make them. But my skewers which arrived this morning are the wrong type. I received the flat blades instead of the square type... :( I may still make them and just cook them on the grill rack. What do you guys think?

PS I will dig the recipe out for the kebabs and post it in the starters thread.

Could well be interested mate, they are exactly what I am after. Are you happy to post them to Australia?

Give me a day or two, as I am going to see if I can get some made here in Perth. If it works out that I can't, or they are mega expensive....and you are happy to send them to OZ, i'll take them off your hands.

Thanks for the offer and I won't keep you waiting. :)

Yeah, definitely happy to send them to OZ mate, no problem. I will check the postage prices and send you a PM so you know the total price.
