FREE British Indian Restaurant E-Book Download?
« on: April 06, 2012, 01:25 PM »
Hi All,

No offence, to anyone, at all,....

....BUT!.....would anyone be interested in having a FREE "e-book" available for download from this forum?

If so, I would be more than happy to compile (or, at the very least, contribute to) one.  Maybe others would also feel so inclined?

OK, some may feel that it (i.e. my) contribution would not be as valuable as others', BUT I am happy (and I am inclined) to make one available (to the best of my ability, knowledge and efforts), for FREE, on this forum.

After all, surely this forum is all about FREE contributions towards replicating British Indian Restaurant curries at home?

Opinions please?

I think its a superb idea, maybe written along the lines of the best recipes from CR0 mirroring the normal BIR menu including a couple of quality gravies and ensuring the technique is explained properly and in depth.  I'm sure we could reach a general concensus on which are the likely contenders for many of the dishes.   Let's see what the other regular contributors think :D

I'm still very new to indian cooking so couldn't offer anything, but any form of good, free information is much welcomed.
I think an e-book compiled of the tried and tested recipes on these forums would be excellent and save having to dig around in old threads for ideas, or missing some of the jems that we do not notice.

I would definitely be very interested in a free e-book. I think it's a great idea CA! This forum is about free information and without it my curries would not be as good. I have bought the 'one' everyone is talking about, but there's more room on the over burdened recipe book shelf!

Not sure if I could contribute anything worthwhile, as all my recipes are from the forum. CT chicken tikka Jahl Frezi, madras and CH North Indian special are firm favourites of mine.

I've got onions, carrots and cabbage to transform now into base gravy :)

All the best
Colette

I think it's a great idea CA and you've proven in the past you're good at clearly documenting recipes and organising information in a logical way so I'd be more than happy if you were willing to compile the book. The thing which worries me is how we will agree what should be included - consensus seems to be hard to find around here at times!  ;)

One thought - you might need to get Admin onboard with the idea because if the file is to be hosted on his server then downloads will contribute to his bandwidth bill.

Great idea CA.

Like Geezah, I wouldn't be able to contribute any recipes, as the only worthwhile recipes I know are the ones I have gained from this forum. I am more than happy to test out as many as possible though.... ;) :D

A book bringing together the vast acreages of accumulated information on CRO is a splendid idea, and I'd be happy to help out in any way I can.

I see from UB's post that it's something that's been discussed before, but perhaps now the time is ripe?
