Chicken Sharabi with Taz Base
« on: March 29, 2012, 09:22 PM »
I can't post this recipe without giving credit to the cook4one website which has a great variety of recipes above and beyond the usual BIR menu and this dish is one of them. I've taken the recipe there and adapted it to the Taz base and method. There is also a slightly more complex range of spices in this dish and I could taste the cardamom and cinnamon coming through. The unusual ingredient in this is the whisky and as a Scot I couldn't resist. As I only drink malt whisky that's what I used. I never drink the paint stripper stuff but that could be used too. To be honest we couldn't actually taste the whisky so I had to force myself to have a wee glass!

Chicken Sharabi with Taz Base

Ingredients:

1 portion of precooked chicken

I have to say that's the first time I've heard of whisky in a curry!

Fantastic!

As a lover of fine malts (which I entirely blame on you Scots, and whisky mad father), I HAVE to try this.

I just hope I can live with the pain of pouring my beloved 15 year-old into a sizzling pan of sauce... :'(

There's another 2 other recipes using brandy http://www.cook4one.co.uk/c2/sb/c41nashilee.html

and  http://www.cook4one.co.uk/c2/sb/c41nashidar.html

Tried all three original recipes and was thoroughly impressed with the results.

Cook4one recipes are well worth a try, i have to date, tried around 60-65 of the recipes. The one i would recommend is the Balti Tamarind Chicken.

Me too SD and at the moment I have bottles of Jura, Macallan, and Glenfiddich in 12, 15 and 18 year old versions - I used the Jura!

I also have this bottle which was given to me as a 50th birthday present a few weeks back - I don't think I'll be opening this somehow...

Hi Stephen didn't notice your post, i usually cook curries 3-4 times a week for friends, neighbours, myself and my other half, so i make anything from 3-8 different curries, only one of each and then get opinions and suggestions off my friends and neighbours about adjustments etc.
I take all comments and criticisms and make changes where appropriate, to suit different tastes, hopefully.

That looks delicious Stephen, well done :)

As a fellow Whiskey lover I'll definitely be giving this one a go...
