The best I've ever seen are the Bamix ones. Seen them demo'd at the NEC a couple of times. They look the dogs doo dahs and very versatile too. There's only one reason I don't own one tho...???s..but I've bowed to one day treat myself.

I nearly bowed down but they are dear. They even go for good money second hand.

I've had two 600W SilverCrest blenders in the last 8 years, both very good for base.

Except the plastic cup on the latest version cracked and out of warranty, but when I
see them again in store, I'll get another, but I hope its their new German version.

That does look good. I like the name - stabmixer. I think the blades should do the job. Here's hoping that it's the same version as that. Thanks for the info.

I'll be keeping an eye on Lidl as I think I'm due a new one as my current Braun one is 18+ years old and only packing 160 Watts.

Sounds like you have the same one as me. Mine is a Braun with a mere 160w too, it just doesn't cut the mustard (or blend the base).

It was only after reading this thread that I realised how long I've had mine and how under powered it was, I'm sure when I got it it was state of the art.

Sounds like it might be a good idea to wait for it to come around again and continue to swear at my current 150w one. Blending is a bit like watching paint dry at the moment but I have to say I'm amazed it hasn't gone into meltdown. Have you had the silvercrest for long?
