Hand blenders

Hello everyone. I am looking to get a new hand blender and I am wondering what everyone out there uses and how satisfied you are with them. I am hoping to make a purchase based on long term opinions of the variety of blenders that are available. I will be using it to mainly blend up my bases.

I prefer my Kenwood Major with jug blender for blending bases, but for routine use it is hard to beat the value, power, performance and 3-year guarantee of a 600W SilverCrest hand blender from Lidl at GBP 11-99.

Hi Phil, thanks for the reply. I did read about the SilverCrest blenders somewhere here but when I do a search for them it says the offer is finished. I did look in my local Lidl and they had nothing in there either. I could use my Magimix but I would have to do it in several batches, and I'm a bit lazy when it comes to washing up and so find a hand blender easier. Also I use the Magimix for anything other than curries.

The blender offer is a regular one, so just sign up for the Lidl e-newsletter and you'll be told twice a week of the immediately forthcoming special offers.  But beware :  unlike Aldi, and for reasons known only to themselves (but which I very much suspect has to do with SEO), Lidl do /not/ list all the items coming on offer in the newsletter; instead, they list one or two examples of each major genre, and you then have to click on one of those examples to see the full list.  So for SilverCrest blenders, just keep an eye open for kitchen items.

I have to agree, for just over a tenner Silvercrest blenders are hard to beat. Keep your eye open they come round every couple of months.

I've had a Waring like below for a few years.
Blending 5 & 7 ltrs batches of gravy or soup is a doddle with it, seeds & all. Was around the 50 quid mark though.

I have the same blender as Phil and it works a treat - it will come up again in their stores.

Sounds like it might be a good idea to wait for it to come around again and continue to swear at my current 150w one. Blending is a bit like watching paint dry at the moment but I have to say I'm amazed it hasn't gone into meltdown. Have you had the silvercrest for long?
