please explain why you think that he should receive the wooden spoon award

My thinking is that he's done more than anyone else to set back the cause, or throw a spanner in the works. That's because he set up a separate forum which more or less emulates this one. It must dilute the overall R&D effort, and that's where the damage has been done, in my opinion. I for one don't have the time or inclination to trawl through every post on that forum, like I do to a certain extent here. That means I could miss something of interest, which might otherwise be posted here. He's disgruntled, bitter and misguided in my opinion, even if his recipes are quite good in terms of taste, and some of the best in terms of presentation.

Several members suspect that he has crept back here under one or more alternative identities. I suspect they might be right. Therefore, another suggestion might be that we have a security alert arrangement a bit like DEFCON, as used by the US armed forces. But scaled right down, of course, to match forum needs, rather than the defence of a nation.

What level of readiness do you think we should be on at present?

I would suggest we are at Level (moderated) 10.

This obsession with CA seems to affect almost everything you post, George. I, and many others, weren't here when the lovers' tiff occurred, so really don't care about your paranoid attempts to bring him down. Be the bigger man, George, forget it.

What if he had other logins, or friends doing it on his behalf; I think this forum is thriving more now than ever since I joined.

But we are a slightly different bunch. Posting new or improved recipes/methods are crucial, but so is the feeling of community and respect, and the ability to have a bit of fun. That makes this forum different from others.

I agree. So much for any notion of a 'three strikes and you're out' type rule. Why should anyone feel the need to use such bad language?

As another relatively newish member I have to agree with earlier sentiment, that this is unproductive and in general, a wee bit undignified.  (That's Scottish for "little bit" by the way.)

Should there be a consensus that an "award" is useful, based on whatever criteria, to propel the forum forward, then by all means use a sensible approach to initiate it.  Personally, I don't see the need and I think sp was a bit embarrassed at being suggested, even though I do see him as a worthy recipient. This constant cycle of going back to bash an ex-agitator is valueless, possibly even self-destructive, and for newbies, simply confusing.

(Although, I do at least now understand the basic story behind this apparent paranoia. I along with about 6 others have recently been suspected of being an interloper using an alias.)

Would the real Sam Salim please step forward?

I think George had good intentions with his original proposal but probably was a bit carried away with his own creativity. He has acknowledged that and I accept his retraction.  Nothing more to see here. Let's move along toward healthy discussion.

About the suggestion that David Livingston get the award posthumously, I'd be prepared to journey over and accept it on his behalf as a relative.  The ceremony should be held at Adil's I think.
