Tandoori pork chop vs South indian fish curry

Tandoori pork chop

Found one. 1 kg tubs of the mighty Laziza pastes do exist, hurray! Don't think they work out much cheaper than buying several of the smaller size though.

Decent sized portion of meat for a starter.  Two chops would have been greedy. KTC green chilli sauce.  Not decided on the taste yet, but it does have a lovely olive green colour.

Smoked pork fillet, served with spicy apple fritters

Up there with lamb chops as my fav starter.

South indian fish curry (sardines)

Two tins.

Done. Shown cool.

For later, with a garlic tarka.

Ready to be served. Really pleased how this one turned out.  Possibly my best tasting trad dish to date.  Surprisingly not an overly fishy taste. Nothing particularly unusual recipe/technique-wise. A little coconut oil with the veg oil to start. Just turmeric, deggi mirch and gm for the powdered spices.  Whole clove, green cardo seeds, bay, cassia, curry leaf, bullet chill.  Cracked black pepper and coriander to finish.   The garlic tarka added great depth.

:P Mouth watering as always Rob  ::)  Adding a garlic tarka seems to be a very "in thing" at the moment.  Looking forward to jb's "tarka'd" base  in the very near future ;D

Chops look lovely. I still can't find the paste in London but I'm still looking and it gives me an excuse to look in every Asian shop that I pass.

Made a batch of my usual base last weekend with the tarka Dave.  Plan is to then make jb's to spec and do a comparison.  Can't seem to drag myself away from trad dishes these days.  Promised myself it's BIR all the way this Bank Holiday though  ;D

Hi
BB. Well, think everyone has said it all.
Lon&MA.As for the Laziza products they seam to come and go in my favourite Asian grocers. When I asked the owner why it was never the same brands, he told me its whatever his supplier gets in.
Regards
