Another Secret Ingredient?
« on: May 14, 2014, 09:04 PM »
It was 1975. Her name was Hilda. She was a Brummie lady married to a Pakistani gentleman, and it's all her fault! She brought me my first Chicken Madras. It was in her restaurant in Winchester, Hampshire, that I became addicted! I still can remember the sight of her teetering out of the kitchen, where her husband had lovingly created my first Indian experience, which would become so important to me over the years. She approached the table and in a very strong Birmingham accent enquired

Stephen - Why dismiss the idea without even trying it?

Dann Zack - welcome to the forum. I know Eastleigh, and I've been to the Red Fort and dhansack is my favourite dish. I've never heard Advocaat or any alcoholic beverage mentioned here before but it must be worth a try. Many thanks for passing on your tip.

What a great opening post . Welcome along, Dann , and I hope you find what you're looking for.
Regarding the Advocaat,I may well give that a go;we've had a bottle just sitting in the cupboard for the past 26 years gathering dust, so why not.

Hmmm, I wouldn't recommend searching for any of those on a Japanese AV site ...

Why George, because I don't think it is the secret ingredient and if it was we'd have heard about it by now. There is no secret ingredient. So if someone ends up telling us frog spawn is the next thing am I expected to try that uncritically?

George if you wish to try Advocaat in your curries please go ahead, report back and if you gather a head of steam from other forum members that says Advocaat is the next secret ingredient I will take it on board.

Until then I'll stick to what I know.
