Ah, bliss -- just liike being back in the SAS again.  Those were the days ... :)

And yes, really looking forward to tomorrow; having cooked my own curry tonight, it will be great to try a professional's tomorrow and see how they compare. And if Bengali Bob and/or Curryhell /can/ make it (or anyone else, for that matter) it would be great to see you.

It was great.  My sincere thanks to George and Michael for their company; I think we all enjoyed it enormously, would like to repeat it in the future, and hope very much that more will feel motivated to join us next time.  The food at the Agra was not quite up to their 60's standards (the dhansak in particular was a disappointment) but the tandoori dishes were superb, as was the lamb biryani : perfectly spiced and without a trace of dryness.  We ordered too much (of course) but shared everything and had a great time.  The ambience was greatly enhanced by our friendly and welcoming hostess, dressed in traditional Indian style.

I agree. Many thanks to you and Michael for taking the effort to meet up. It was a pleasure to meet you both.

We pinned on badges reading "CRO" to help identify each other when meeting in the street. But Phil arrived early and thought some other bloke looked a bit like I'd described myself, so he want up to him and asked if he was 'George'!

To the hundreds of other reasonably active members, what are your reasons for not wanting to meet for a curry (personal crises and other commitments aside)? I thought it was a great idea of Michael's and I'm surprised only three of us turned up in London.

It also makes you realise that everyone is human and not just some virtual identity to be rude to on here.

Fully understood, Stephen.  These things have to be regional, by definition, and there are surely more than enough of you north of the border to have a Scots meetup.  I am now over-committed until well into the New Year, but I certainly hope we can repeat our London meetup after that, and I've promised to check out Vijay's in advance to make sure that it still lives up to their traditional standards. And then there's the Raja of Kent in Tenterden, if enough of our Kentish members are interested ...
