Bradford was a Huge let down for me as was Glasgow last weekend for a choice of good spice shops and fresh ingredients.
Its been a few years since i ate up there(restaurants before) so i was really looking forward to re-sampling this "Glasgow taste" again.
I was so disappointed to the point of being angry!

What IS this? i said

I tried 4 different curries from two takeaways in different areas. I thought they were bad here in Wales! but no,, these were worse and no better than German curries. :

South Indian garlic
Aloo Gobi
A dish simply called Spinach (tikka marinated with spices cooked in clay oven with spinach, garlic & herbs)
A Bhuna that tasted like beans on toast(maybe butter?)
Totally bland with no flavour of spices at all! The one flavour that dominated was fresh ginger. Only the next day when they were cold could i taste
anything that resembled a curry.
The only things that had ANY flavour were the fried items, Samosas, Hot & Spicy Rice, veg paratha, veg pakoras.
So, i'm bored with hearing about the "glasgow taste"
BIR's and TA's are the same up and down the UK. You get good chefs and you get bad chefs. No one region is better than the other.
Frank.
