I'm just considering taking that next step towards an authentic BIR experience at home by investing in a hot tray for keeping everything nice and warm when served at the table. This is instead of my current approach of dishing it all up in the kitchen onto a plate.

Thinking of Something like this:

Anyone have experience of this or similar products? Any recommendations or things to avoid?  I'm thinking this will work well with the balti serving dishes I've recently invested in.

I have used chinese warmers (the kind with three little tea lights underneath) and they worked really well. My confession now is I've upgraded to a "hostess trolley" which does the same job but warms plates and holds larger quantities.

Next stop = Abigail's Party!

Well Stephen, load that trolley up and trundle down the motorway to my place! In the meantime I'm going to invest in one of these electric warming trays 

Only down side from the electric ones for me, is having to run cables to and across the dining table for them.

For when i have friends back from the pub, i cook the curries then just leave in the pots when we get back from the pub i just switch it on and within 15 minutes curries are ready to eat.

Interesting frank, but not quite what I'm looking for. Martin there are some models with detachable power cord on amazon, idea being you run it up for 15mins or so in the kitchen to preheat then unplug and transfer to the table. The other main distinguishing factor between the amazon offerings is the size of the hot plate area. I haven't yet decided which one to go for but will have another look later.

Thanks Frank. Nothing there remotely like what I need. It's more the very small domestic hot plate (20cm x 40cm) which is up my street. They're only 30-40 quid on Amazon
