hi tye go in to the hints and tips section and find the cooking equipment setion and there is a topic on the hot wok 7.0kw. i put a link there for www.hamiltongasproductsltd.co.uk where they do a 2.5kw burner which jerry bought then customised to 8.0kw for 25.99gbp or go for the 8.0kw burner for 29.99 gbp they are a third of the price of a hot wok and more powerful ;D

ps go to ebay and in the search bar type boiling rings look for ebay shops and you will see there hamilton gas products ltd (link seems to be broken even through ebay). they have the 2.5kw burner for 25.99gbp click on it then view sellers other items and you will see the 8.8kw burner

u're not wrong on your premise. a gas hob will get u very close so that may be an option.

my stove is very much like the steel link but mines from hamilton gas products. i like the weight of the cast iron frame. mine only has a single ring burner which is fine. if i was looking to spend i would try to get a dual burner ie 2 gas rings in the burner. if money is the object then mines pretty good (now that i've added a marker to the gas control thumbwheel.

hi tye that's the 1 mate it chucks out a massive 8.8kw power 8)which dwarfs the hot wok, but be careful it's not the only thing left standing when you crank it up ;D. i believe they are amazing value for money.

the 30,000 btu spec is equivalent to 9kw and will defo do the job.

look fwd to exchanging tips on this garage cooking malarky.

make sure your base sauce is much thinner than u've used before as these stoves eat up water like no tomorrow.
