MA your posts are consistently inspiring to look at but that heat would be way too much for me. Great looking curry nonetheless.

As for the chips I'm with Phil on that one!

Nothing new - Pat Chapman's Curry Club did this in the 1980s.

Tasty - can't meat a flavoursome Madras.

An old thread this but just to add that I was able to tell it was smoked paprika because I often cook Paella and Patatas Bravas.  I think the BIR chef had put way too much of it in the Rogan Josh so it was very obvious.
So not to be recommended?

Like Chewy my first thought was Channa Masala but there's lots of great starters and side dishes you could eat Tapas style - Onion Bhajis/Pakora, Mushroom Bhajis, Dhal made with varying kinds of lentils, Bombay Potatoes, Onion Salad to name but a few.

Well I spoke with a colleague who is from, and lives in Perth. She described the Manzil as OK, generic Indian curries but not the place to go if you want something special or different. She said that she prefers two other establishments in Perth, namely Tabla and the Nawab. I notice the former offers Indian cookery tutorials in your own home -

George I know enough people from Perth that I can probably find out if this place is any good before I go there, but if I do get there I will report back.
