Chicken Tandoori 1st try
« on: October 06, 2012, 10:11 AM »
Here's the results of cooking my first curry recipe. Totally enjoyed the whole experience and making the garam masala, the beauty of cooking oneself is that you can criticise without offence. Without blowing my trumpet i feel it was cooked beautifully only because of the great Ajays instructions but i would love to try it again with Blades Tikka based recipe (no yoghurt). Where do you get the pomegranite extract as i used juice. As ever the highlight of the meal was Edwins x Colin Grigsons simple massur dhal . The green chilli was too hot for us!!

scrummy salad

green heat!!!!

finished dish with massur dhal nans dip etc

Brilliant, Potwash : your efforts put some of us old-timers to shame !  But the one thing you don't mention is the flavour of the tandoori chicken -- in your opinion, how did it compare to the better examples from real BIRs ?

Thank you! Never had BIR tandoori but had tikka and love it. Bit too yoghurty for me but very tasty and tangy and used a corn fed chicken which came through even with all the flavours on top. Looking forward to next recipe. Doing homemade Keema naans tonight!  :-*

I can strongly recommend "Curryholics Anonymous" for when the obsession becomes just too much to handle :)

How long did you marinade ? I found that when I marinade in yoghurt over night that it doesn't taste like yoghurt anymore.

Anyway, looks absolutely lovely !
