I know the search function isn't great, but you'll find plenty of threads about his curries. You'll just need to hunt around a bit.

I just read that back and it sounded really sarcastic. It wasn't meant to be the search function isn't that great.

What do you feel is lacking with the site's search function? I just typed in "c2go" and it came up with loads of threads. What do you mean by "needing to hunt around a bit"? I couldn't agree less.

Yes indeed. If you search c2go there are many threads about Julian on here.   Julian's first ebook (The Secret to that takeaway taste) is the best out there, by a mile, in my opinion.  His videos are already legendary. Enjoy!

I've got both his current E books which are really neat as they link to the videos. His quick-method base gravy is excellent and my curries nowadays alternate between Julian's base and Australian Indian Restaurant style bases, best of both worlds.

As it happens I'm doing his chickpea chole later today - moving house and working my way through the pantry to get rid of stuff and found a tin of chickpeas hiding in a corner  ;D

Edit: his YouTube videos are brilliant as he takes the time to reply to any sensible comments and queries for each video.

That exactly the point, not a lack of information but far too much. It's not a problem specific to this site, but forums in general. This is why indexing a book is such a skill.

Ah, you have a fair point there. Despite data overload being a favourite pet hate of mine, I didn't think of it in the context of a search for c2go or similar.

Another problem not specific to this site but forums in general, is when members open a new thread, even when the same topic has been discussed countless times before. The trouble, though, is that by mentioning any of this, it plays in to the c2go / youtube related criticism that cr0 can be a hostile place.

The search for c2go lists 30 threads, which reflects just how much Julian and c2go have been discussed previously. It's fair enough. I say again that I think he's contributed more in a few months than Pat C did in several decades.

I remember a while back a few people on this site said they were going to drop in to C2G in Chorley, but I haven't seen any further posts on the subject. The opening hours are daytime only, I think, which makes it difficult unless you live close by.

His videos and ebooks are indeed excellent, and as a recent Kindle convert I was delighted to see that 'The Secret to That Takeway Curry Taste' is now available in Kindle format (http://www.amazon.co.uk/Secret-Takeway-Curry-Taste-ebook/dp/B008N2B0OC/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1349255479&sr=1-1).

Okay, it's never going to be the same as a proper cook book, but I've now amassed a load of my favourite recipe books on the thing and it's really handy to have them wherever in the world I happen to be (without lugging several tons around!).
