Hello all

My name is Franco and like you I love Indian food, cooking and trying new flavours.

I have always tried to replicate that Indian restaurant flavour in my curries but with little success.  I'm hoping this site will teach me new tricks and reveal some secrets to me. 

But firstly, please can someone tell me what BIR stands for? Also looking to make my first BIR base gravy tomorrow evening, can you recommend a good recipe? I have been looking at a guy on YouTube called leviteish, he is amazing and has inspired me to go for it.  His BIR base curry recipe looks quite good and I want to have a go at he chichen tika masala.

Anyway, thought I'd say hi.

Hi and welcome Franco.  BIR is simply an accronym for British Indian Restaurant.  Curry2go chef Julian is a member of this forum and we are all following his posts and exploits very closely.  His base is probably a good one to start with.  Not many of us here have tried it yet but his recipes certainly have loads of potential ;D ;D

Again, the choice of base gravy recipes is huge!  Inevitably it comes down to trying some until you find one that combines with the dish you're cooking to give you the finished taste you are looking for.  As a relative 'newbie' myself, I've found that the bases given by AbdulMohed and Cory Ander are excellent......but try stuff for yourself -it's what this forum is all about!  And good advice is always readily available here.

Just one question, i am new to these forum sites so unsure how they work.  Is is possible for me to see all of AbdulMohed recipes? how do i do this?
