David Smith Curry Book

I was really curious and so I bought the book
It comes as pdf files to open in Acrobat
You don't get the whole book in one go
You download it as seperate recipes
You can access each recipe on line as well
Advice is available through a forum
All in all, it is very well researched and presented
I asked weather these were recipes that he had been given by chefs
He said that they were worked out by himself instead
I tried the Chicken Tikka Massala sauce and it was good
I didn't use his base though
It's ?7.50 and a lot better than the "secrets of the indian restaurant"
Has anyone else got it?
What do you think?

Hi Pete, I've had it for a while and found it very good value Also thought the forum might be better than in2curry had become, then along comes this one and we're spoiled for choice!
David Smith's book might not be copied from chefs but a lot of work seems to have gone into it and the recipes i've tried have tasted very good ,including the base, not perfect but probably better than 'The Curry Secret'
Cheers Tony ;D

Hi Pete,
As you know I have this book and rate it highly, the recipes are very good, its a good read and has loads of recipes. The only downside is that his base sauce doesnt produce a high quantity so I use his recipes with your base and they are superb.
The easy way to download the whole book is to install a tool like flashget and then when on the index page right click and select 'Download all by flashget'
Dave's CTM recipe is the best I have found, I have also tried his recipes for madras, balti, bhuna and jalfrezi and all are great, well worth the 8 quid although I think his forum will suffer due to it being members only but it is good that you can speak to Dave direct on it.
cheers

I had a go at David Smith's Prawn Rhogan Josh.
I think it's because I cooked it, but it tasted so plain.
I have never had a takeaway that seemed so flavourless
I'm sure the left overs will be better today.
Has anyone else had a major success with it?
