Fresh homegrated coriander, anyone?

I just got some from an Indian young lady I know whose mother gets it from India and grates it herself.  Ye gads, the AMAZING smells and taste and all around difference between store-bought and homemade!!!!!!!

For you, my fellow sad buggers, here's a piccie .... Freshly grated coriander...

Thought Cilantro was what americans call coriander? If you grow your own (and its really easy) then you can use the seeds you buy in the shop, but better still get quality seeds from a garden supply store, get a cheap plastic propagator, although at a stretch anything that will hold soil and a bit of clingfilm over will work. Ive even planted the seeds in the garden, walked away and left them and whoosh plants have come up (this method doesn?t work as well in the middle of a swedish winter, where in Stockholm it can get down to -20 ).

yes, us americans call cilantro, coriander - they are 1 and the same.

How on earth do you grate coriander??

My dad "grows" the seeds by letting some of the coriander plants keep growing and the ends turn to seed eventually..that is what we grind in a coffee grinder and use!  That seed can also be planted again.

ah you mean ground not grated yes??
