Hi from Harrow

Just posting to introduce myself: I'm Bob, married, now retired, two grown up girls, one in Nice and one at home. Well, I'm getting on a bit now and have been addicted to curry for nearly 40 years but only seem to get a TA BIR curry on family birthdays and special occasions these days so I'm looking to be able to make them at home. My wife and I have tried on and off over the years but our attempts have always missed the mark considerably. I have made one base gravy recently with a subsequent curry but that still had that "home made, not quite got it" appearance and taste. Disappointing but I'm not giving up on one unsuccessful attempt and have bought The Curry Secret and the follow up book and also the Undercover Curry book. Now I have also found this jolly site too, so with all this information suddenly available to me I feel fired up ready to have another go. Wish me luck!

Welcome to cr0 Bob,
Books are great mate and a good starting point. However, they are literally 'black & white' and only provide you with the basics. Whereas cr0 will give you opportunity to speak directly with recipe providers who are only too happy to offer a helping hand. You can also see how like minded curry addicts are rating certain recipes, so you shouldn't go far wrong here my friend.
Ask loads of questions, get involved and most of all, have FUN ;D
Good luck,
Ray

Welcome Bob. I think the other guys have pretty much summed up the site and the help and advice you can expect. As Ray says, books are black and white. You'll get a lot more from this site. Enjoy it mate and look forward to cooking some really good BIR dishes ;D

Thanks to all for the warm welcome, that's great. To 976Bar, I'm about 10 mins walk from Rayners Lane Tube.
Yes, I get the point re books being black & white - obviously I need to gain experience and this takes time of course. Anyway, thanks again to all for the welcome - I'll be checking the site out fairly often as there is a lot
learn.

Welcome to cr0 bob ;D
Everyone has pretty much said everything, just would like to add, to get a good result of a BIR dish, it takes many attempts as well as patience. When we buy a book, it gives us the basics and teaches the skills. Good Luck!
