Now that is a golden nugget :o. If it works, how easy garlic puree will be in future :D. 95% of time spent on it is pealing the little blighters >:(

That is amazing, I've just got to give this a go.  Don't suppose it would work with ginger too?  ;D

It is indeed, amazing, and it does work : I have just tried it (albeit with less than a full head).  A few caveats -- it is essential that you can get a good comfortable grip on the basins (or whatever); I used a heavy aluminium casserole with Pyrex lid, and I found it difficult to hold and tiring to shake -- I got lactic acid build up way before the ten seconds was up.  That apart, it definitely works, and is now incorporated into my chef's armoury of techniques.

"Change hands" ?!  I'm already using two hands, and even those aren't really enough to get a good grip !
