Curry night!
« on: June 30, 2011, 10:26 PM »
Hi all,

Myself and new member "wineman" had a curry night tonight - here are some pics!

We started off with a pleasant couple of pints of bitter then started cooking.  The base and spice mix were CA's and we knocked up a King Prawn Vindaloo, a Mutton Madras, a Chicken Ceylon, a Chicken Chasni, Chilli paneer and some pilau rice.  We even knocked up a prawn Korma - not pictured.

The result, two happy, and slightly fatter curry lovers!

Hey Tom,

Great pics fella but was it just you and wineman who were eating?  Bloody Nora, you guy's have got healthy appetites haven't ya  :o

I recently had a curry night, only a fortnight back, on the menu was;

30 poppadoms
Yogurt sauce
Lime pickle
spicy red onions
Mango/chilli jam chutney
Meat samosas x 16
Tandoori chicken legs x 16
Onion bhajis x 16
Big bowl of pilau rice
Big bowl of plain basmati rice
Lamb tikka Jal Frezi, x 4
Lamb Rogan Josh x 4
Chicken Madras x 4
Chicken tikka bhuna x 4
Lots of salad

That lot fed 10 adults and 4 kids, with plenty left to take home (I actually didn't get any :()

The only photos I have were taken on my phone and really don't do the presentation justice, hence why I haven't posted them but I will be having another curry night soon for a different circle of friends so hopefully, I'll get better pics then.

Good post Tom, always enjoy seeing the fruits of ones labour.

Ray :)

Hi Tom

Great efforts :) - certainly looks delicious.

That is quite a lot of separate dishes you made there and they all look very good. I notice you have a a good portion of oil there two ;)

How long have you been cooking BIR style curry for?

Anyway, thanks for posting the pictures - craving a curry now and its only 9am.

Cheers!

Hi Tom

Cheers Solarsplace, I have been trying to cook curries for getting on 20 years.  At first I didn't realise it was BIR I was trying to cook :)

For the last 10 years I suppose I have been cooking BIR stuff, using KD and variations on Pat Chapman recipes.  But by far the best recipes and bases are the ones I have found on here, made a massive improvement in my curries!

Wineman (Chris) has been cooking for a couple of years and I introduced him to this site he had been using KD before that) and he is a very happy bunny!

I was so stuffed after eating I had to lie on my tummy and rock myself to sleep! :)

I had done most of the prep the day before - so each curry only took about 10 mins to cook.

Tom,

It took me a good couple of days to prep but I was in curry nirvana.  When it came to the main event, I was just glad to sit down and enjoy quite a few cold ones.

Just looking at the expressions on my guest's faces was good enough for me, it really was a good night.

Ray :)
