Does oil go off?

I've just run out of veg oil but have found at the back of my cupboards a half used bottle of sunflower oil from about 5 years ago. Will it be ok to use, or can oil go off?

According to sources I have read, once opened, Veg Oil is good for about 6 months. It can be affected by light, heat and air and the factors combined will determine how good the oil is.
A bottle half used after 5 years, would go in my bin.

I think that's my answer then. Off to the shops with me. Cheers.
