BBQ weather tomorrow (well later to day by now I 'spose); had steak earlier this evening and want to try something different next:  anyone know of a good marinade recipie fpr shish kebabs and chicken kebabs?

I'm after the sort of flavour commonly associated with kebabs (other than doner) commonly sold by doner kebab establishments.

Ta very much!

Hi Adrian,

Although you won't find this in a kebab shop my recipe for a Red Pepper Puree/sauce is superb when used with kebabs.

Its in the section "Talk about anything other than curry" :)

Axe posted a pretty good looking recipe here:

I like the Branston hot chilli and jalapeno relish to go with my kebabs. I find it tastes quite a lot like like the stuff from a kebab shop.

I have noticed that Kebab Shop recipes vary considerably, even in the same shop! The one I created for home was simply to compare components of Indian cuisine with the Kebab shop chicken shish and in my opinion is pretty close to the mark.

The marinade can be thinned out by adding more lemon juice but I tend not to do this as I only usually marinate now for about an hour.

It's become a staple in our household now, i'd love some feed back on it if you try it.

 :)
