Tayyabs creamy chicken
« on: February 19, 2010, 08:35 AM »
I was at Tayyabs on Wednesday night. Usual high standards but the waiter recommended a Karhai Chicken,on the bone in an unusual creamy sauce. Has anyone else had this and does anyone know how to recreate it?

TIA

Tayyabs in whitechapel right?
I've been once and thought it was amazing. I cant remember if i had that particular dish but they were all really good. I thought the lamb dishes were the most memorable because they were slow cooked on the bone. Actually i guess the chicken ones are slow cooked too.
The food is very different to BIR dont you think? Very much meat focused rather than boiled onion paste focused. I need to go back there to remind myself what the chicken was like!
The lamb dishes definitely show up BIRs dont they? And much better value IMO.
Remember to add pakistani to your search term as that should help you narrow it down.

Yes the Tayyabs in Whitechapel.
I believe the chicken dish was a wednesday night special but the taste was completely different from anything I have had before.
We went with an Aussie friend of ours who is returning home after several years in the UK. He wasn't happy that he had only found the restaurant days before he was due to leave the country. He said it was the best curry he had ever enjoyed and he couldn't believe the low prices.
