As long as the foods good i wouldn't care if it was a martian cooking it.

But I may be more hesitant to actually go into a BIR that I noticed was staffed entirely by non-asians.

No I don't give a hoot who serves me. I don't care who the cook is either. What matters is that the Chef is classically trained in providing what I like to eat. Nothing more, nothing less.

I have many friends from different cultures and creeds. It matters not.

My approval of Indian-looking waiters is nothing to do with friendship. I'm happy to have  European, Chinese or African-looking friends but I don't want them serving as waiters in an Indian restaurant, any more then I'd want an Indian serving Chinese food in a Chinese restaurant. They'd lose my custom, too.

It's a very interesting question. 

There is a top notch, award winning Indian restaurant near me (The Indian Ocean) that is actually owned by a white, English chap and yet, ALL his staff are Asian!  Now he obviously has a handle on what is expected from a customer perception, and for this reason, only employes Asian's.

At weekends, the restaurant puts on entertainment such as, singers, kareoke and so on,  sounds tacky, but it works.  The place is packed out all the time.  Im guessing this is purely down to the owner as I couldn't imagine Asian owners would put on such performances.

I personally, would prefer to be served by an Asian in my local BIR, but then again,  I prefered it when all BIR's were decorated with red velvet wallpaper and had some good old indian folk music going on in the background ;D

Most of the Indian restaurants around where I live play this sort of hip-hop beat flavour of Indian music. Trying to be modern I guess, but its mostly awful, as is the food.

I miss the plain sitar music I remember from UK BIRs!

Interesting question  Our second favourite Indian T/A has a British Lady working in the kitchens , I didn't know until she came out from the kitchen with our takeaway carriers in her hands  She had an apron on so could have been doing the cooking ! I don't mind that so much but would feel ' short changed ' if I was served by non Indian waiters in the restaurant.

PS . a few years ago our local T/A offered my youngest Daughter a job helping out in the kitchen but she didn't take it .
