Have been enjoying AIR "American Indian Restaurant" Curry for years and have tried my hand once or twice cooking from scratch.
My Brit girlfriend and I have been eating curry from a jar for a year or so and have recently started experimenting. Looking to try and get close enough to BIR taste to impress her. Gotta keep the girl happy right? And after Tea Curry is the next essential in light.
Already like what I have read on the site so far and will try my first batch of "base" this week.

I'm in Las Vegas...and there don't seem to be too many of us (in the U.S.) who are making BIRs.
if you need any help, let me know.
How I make mine is to use Cory Ander's spiced oil (I make 4 batches at a time, which lasts me a few months) and four batches of Cory Ander's base, which I measure into 300 ml or 600ml batches, put into Ziploc bags and freeze. When I want a curry, from start to finish is less than 30-minutes.

btmcgraw - have you ever had a true british indian curry?
The AIRs (or in my case CIRs - I live in Toronto) are nowhere near as good as the best BIRs.
If you have never had one (in England that is) do yourself - and the brit girlfriend - a massive favor and make a base and finished curry off this site. Most of them are miles better than standard Indian restaurant food you get over here.
