could not find the sriracha stuff at tesco. i did get the franks and lingham's.

I've tried the Linghams before but IMHO its nowhere as near as nice as the rooster sauce.

currymonster,

i am pretty sure i agree. i need to taste the rooster to be 100%. i've used the lingham in the past and "never go back" rung true a little - i was a tad disappointed. either the ashoka equivalent is so good or the lingham's is not as good as i thought. i will know this week for sure.

i will look out for the rooster on my travels though.

the franks stuff is not the same animal that i'm interested in (the rooster/lingham category) - its a sort of tabasco. i certainly like it and will use regular it but not in curry.

for those interested the testing was done by way of chip butty.

Hi JerryM

Ever tried mixing the Linghams with some brown sauce and/or Lea&Perrins, fab with chips.

Cheers

CoR,

not gone that far.

i do like HP Brown on toast for a treat and Lea&Perrins is a must for cooking in general (ie chilli).

i've had one night on the chilli sauce and still work in progress.

i'm settling on the ashoka south Indian garlic as my preference.

the lingham for me just doesn't do it.

i was surprised how much sweetness the lingham added (and red colour) which has given me a bit more to work on though in terms of ideas.

Hi All,

For all the chilli heads here this chilli sauce is a must! Its my absolute number 1 favourite and I've tried many. Before you know it you'll be smothering your cornflakes with it.

Sorry guys I said this stuff is available from Tescos and it is (at least it's in mine, checked yesterday) but it's branded as Flying Goose, it does not seem to be available on-line from Tesco but Spices of India have it and so do plenty of others. CLICK HERE
There is even a WIKIPEDIA page on the stuff. HTH.

Cheers

I've tried the Flying Goose brand and its not the same, only the Rooster will do, accept no substitutes!  ;)

i checked in my nearest Asian Supermarket for the rooster but no luck.

they have a huge selection of chilli sauces and also sell to the trade. just to add injury the linghams was half the tesco price (well double the volume).

i'll keep a look out but i think rusholme is going to be the only place local to get the rooster.

the ashoka chilli sauce has done the trick for me so i have no pressing need - i'm thinking more for BBQ.

interesting - the lingham's has been going down great guns - been using it on copycat subway. anyhow emptied the tesco bought bottle and needed new.

i got new bottle from my asian store - same label - bigger bottle - lower price.

big difference in the taste though - it is far less blended - u can see the bits of chilli and the garlic hits u right away.

anyone else come across the difference - the jar printing is exactly the same.

ps got to try the new one in curry.
