Need a BIR recommendation in Lincoln!
« on: March 17, 2009, 01:59 AM »
Hi All,

After 6 years, business finally brings me back to the UK.

First on the agenda is a BIR meal  8)

My first night there I am going to be in Lincoln.

Need a recommendation of the BEST in Lincoln.

I think SnS is from the area, and that the Saffron is located there. If that's the best, then great. If there's somewhere else, please let me know.

Aside from re-experiencing BIR cuisine, this will really give me a yardstick as to whether I am actually close to what I remember or not. I will share the experience with the forum!

Thanks!

-- Josh

Wasn't the BIR where SnS got his base method from in Limcoln|?  That's supposed to be good, can't remember the name though!

Hi Josh

Saffron at Bailgate or the Bombay (at bottom of Steep Hill) ... both very good ... Not Saffron on a Monday (chefs day off). If you want Saffron on a Friday or Saturday you will have to book in advance.

Tiger Prawn Jalfrezi Xtra hot with Xtra coriander is my favourite.

Royal Tandoori (High Sreet) is also supposed to be very good but I havn't been there for a while.

SnS  ;)

hi josh you could try to get in the kitchen and may be film your meal being cooked, or just watch it being cooked? it will inspire you plus the buzz is fantastic and your curry cooking will change for the better, or you may just be frustrated that you just cannot get that flavour aroma/taste. oh and lastly don't forget to buy some curry gravy and oil that way you could cook a meal with it as you are miles away from home   :'( or you could just enjoy the meal and have a great night out ;D

regards
gary  ;)

OK, its actually a Wednesday I think, so I think I will try the Saffron.

I will be meeting an old acquaintance and I've pre-warned her that my first night will be a curry. (As will every other night, she just doesn't know that yet  ;D )

She said that she knows a "great contemporary Indian" in Lincoln, whatever that means. I will try and find out the name and have SnS vet  8)

Really looking forward to this. The Tiger Prawn Jalfrezi Xtra Hot sounds great. (Drooling at the thought). That will go nice with the Madras and CTM I will also be ordering  ;D

This is funny. I asked what the name of the "great contemporary Indian" was and this was the reply:

Quote
The Place is called Saffron but, nevermind we can get an indian some-place else.
Some-one to ''pre-vet''? so you don't trust my judgement?!?!?  Un-impressed!

Guess I'm going to the Saffron! Small world.
