im going to make this as my first base, the quantity that it makes is very large, but yes, from reading i do understand this is needed and is measured for the correct tastes etc..

but then , the base links with a madras and only a madras.. as there is soooo much base, i dont want to live off just madras for a month + , so is there any other recipes other than madras that will go well together , or is it hit and miss ..

im a new so expect these newb questions :)

bascially ... are there any other recipe links to other curries apart from madras, on this site that go nicely with darths base !??

I've not tried this one, but like you when I 1st joined this was going to be my choice, but I then changed to the Bruce Edwards one at the last minute.

Hi Al Frezi,

That's the beauty of working with a base... the idea is that you can make any curry you like. The Madras is just one. You will see under the recipes for Vindaloo, Korma, Bhuna, CTM, Jalfrezi, etc, etc, etc that they call for an amount of curry base in every one.

That's how the BIRs can turn them out so fast.

The trick is to pick a base that works well for the types of curries you prefer.

Hi Al Frezi,

Why not start with the Bruce Edwards base:

This one is fully adaptable and you should be able to use it to make any curry from korma to vindaloo.

darths is an excellent base that will work with most curries (though more suited to hotter ones if followed to the letter)
why not split the base into two pots and just add less chilli to one of them then it will be good for most milder dishes too ..
