A Question of Rice
«

I am new here and I have a question about rice for Curries. My Dad introduced me to JASMINE Rice... and I find that that rice goes SO WELL with ym Curries. Yet I see for the most part people talking about rice yet not specifying the type.
What are your opinions about Jasmine and other rices for Curries.

I love jasmine rice, and feel it goes great with Thai and Malaysian dishes. For Indian, its gotta be basmati for me. I've accidentally run out of basmati before and substituted jasmine, but its not quite the same.
I find Jasmine goes great with more liquid-type curries - like a Thai Red - to soak up the curry.
My opinion anyway.

I don't think I have tried jasmine rice.
What exactly is it?
Is it long grain, does it have an aroma like basmati?

Jasmine has a very aromatic quality toit, In my opinion Basmati has a nutti flavor where Jasmine has almost a floral taste. I like it and will have to retry Basmati with my curries....
I also will have to try that Thai Red curry... Sounds good.
