Don't know if anyone has been on this yet(or even heard of it)...

www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk

Basically the local environemtal health officer from the local council visits your local curry house and gives its findings out of five on the website.

I wish I hadn't looked....by local takeaway(only a small place where you can watch them cook ) got a terrible rating(0 out of 5)  The thing is the food is excellent!!!

That way you know it's good! ;D

I don't know exactly where the "taste" and "smell" come from but I have to say, the shadier looking the take away, the tastier the curry.

Scary but often very true!

i tried the web site but could not get it to work after the 1st search (which did not list my fav). I seemed locked out until I completed the survey (which i did not feeling i'd got no value).

looks mighty good going fwd but clearly early days.

I had the same problems with the site as Jerry M above which was a pity as this scheme was much vaunted in my local press a year or so ago when it was launched since when we have heard nothing further.
One reason for doing your own curries is of course you know what you are eating and believe me the standard of food hygiene in some t/a's round here is appalling and I had hoped that maybe standards would rise as a result of SOTD.
If anyone is interested you can read the original articles

http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/search/1575248.Scoreboards_food_for_thought/

so if you're ever unfortunate enough to find yourself in Blackburn you at least know where to avoid when you order that ruby!!
