Hi there My name is Paul and I have been interested in curries since my Father took us  for regular curries in Birmingham (England) during the early 1960's after his tasters during his Navy days. My earliest memories must be about 1965 when we all went to the Bombay Restaurant (I think) and remember the curries being quite ornate Saffron strands in the pillao rice, fruit and nuts etc. The chicken dishes were on-the-bone ! and we would often have a whole large chicken between us as one dish.
The restaurants then shot up quite quickly to what we know today.
Its great to have found this site as I have been trying to perfect restaurant curry for  about 30 years or more. I have traveled to Sri Lanka and watched some of the locals cooking outside on sticks which was quite enlightening. I am happy with most of my curries some are a mixture of Ugandan Indian recipes which I like and find easier and quicker, but of course I am still trying to perfect that curry base sauce !
