I am going to suggest something regarding the shoutbox.
We all seem to be using the site at different times and very rarely get to talk in close to real time.
How about all agreeing on a time and having a chat using the shoutbox.
A sort of weekly live meeting if you like.
I know this will not be easy 'cos we have members from all over the world.

Opinions, suggestions please?

I think one problem with the shoutbox is that after you have said "evening all, anyone about" you are then busy having a browse about. So by the time you get back to the shoutbox, someone could have replied and logged off. After all, we log on to find out how to make a good curry more than to have a chat. I can look at the bottom of the home page and know that, Domi/jethro/cory ander and others are in, but not necessary looking at the shoutbox. Maybe having a set time to chat would work, but as you point out, there would be a problem with time zones.

I find the same problem, I have tired to use it but usualy there is no one else on looking at it.

I can't even see a shoutbox  :-[

I'll go look for it.
 
You can always put the shoutbox in various locations, index, forums etc so that as you leave a thread its at the top/bottom of the page etc and then its easier to see as you go about the site.
I've coded in similar for various torrent sites.

Yes, I'm not even sure if it's functioning correctly (it kept opening my download manager, when I went there, so I don't bother with it). 

In fact, I'm not even sure if it's still there?  I sure can't find it now!  :P

Otherwise, it's certainly very carefully hidden!  :P

I don't think a shoutbox has any place here.
If you want to chat, get MSN or Yahoo Instant Messenger and put your username on your CR0 profile.
