Been doing this when the weather has been to bad to cook in my Tandoori oven.
turned out very well, cooked a variety of tikkas like this.

Hook things from IKEA and just your bog standard skewers, plus i place a roasting tin at the bottom of the oven with water in to catch the drips.
top of oven at 170, using a fan oven.

Is there any issue with hot grease dripping from the chicken into water?

I haven't had any problem, i do add the roasting tin of water in first then turn oven on to reach temp.
