Where can I find a simple recipe for Beef Curry?
« on: March 14, 2007, 03:05 PM »
I want to make a curry with Beef.  Not too hot.  Can anyone help?

I have cooked a few curries, but just a beginner and would love to learn more from this forum.

Thanks.

Hi joderv1,

Welcome to the forum, i suggest trying this recipe http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=674.0 (thanks Darth)

Just substitute the Chicken for beef, and if you want it mild reduce and Chili powder used.
A lot of people have had good results from this so try away.

Hope this helps, let us know how it turns out.

I want to make a curry with Beef.

I think the first curry I ever had was (dried) Vesta beef curry whilst out camping as a teenager, yet I've never seen beef on an Indian menu, perhaps for religious reasons. I thought the cow was somehow 'sacred' for Hindus, rather than for Bangladeshi Moslems.

Hi Joderv,

If you use the recipe that Stew suggested, you probably want to pre-cook the beef........

See here: http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=80.0

or here: http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=1485.0

Alternatively, you could gently simmer the beef, in the curry sauce, until it's tender (i.e. for an hour or so).  You could do this equally well on the stove or in the oven.  However, British Indian Restaurants would add pre-cooked meat to the curry sauce.

Regards,
