What's best to read first?
« on: January 31, 2007, 09:50 PM »
Hi everyone, I just joined for the first time this week.

Please forgive me for being lazy, but I was hoping someone could point me to any particularly good threads that I should take a look at first, so I can get up to speed here?

Thanks, Michael

;D ;D Hi and a big welcome Mike, I suggest looking up which ingredients you will need to start building up on. Then look at the different base sauces forum members have have experimented with and perfected. Make your choice and then try doing one yourself, [ It's fun } Personally my favorites are DarthPhalls and Andy2295's but experience and knowledge will only come from practice. There is a wealth of experience in here Mike which covers rice making. starters, and main dishes. enjoy. Paul

Hi Mike,

I would recommend starting of with the Bruce Edwards articles which can be found here:

http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?board=5.0

You could try his base or go for another one from here:

http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=422.0

There are quite a few and there is no one correct recipe so try a few and find one you like.

I have to agree, you must try some bases & recipes here & decide for yourself which suites your particular pallet, it may not be the easy answer you are looking for (like many of us in the beginning were hoping for) but it will give you greater insight into the machinations of curry cooking & in the long run give you much better results, i have spent at least 2-3 years experimenting until i found what works best for myself,it is good to try KD for a very basic understanding of recipes & methods i found it gave me a good foundation to start with but you will soon move on & come to the same conclusion, the best recipes are here matey, but please take the steady path to Curry enlightenment. :)

Enjoy the ride.

HI,

Welcome you could try the FAQ's here http://www.curry-recipes.co.uk/curry/index.php?topic=776.0

Or dont forget each section has an index of recipes, start with a base sauce then when you've made it use it to make any of the curries listed in the Main Recipes Section.

Enjoy and have fun, let us know how you get on.
