Just curious if there is any other name for this, its just that there are many different spices and herbs with different names which are in fact the same.

Hmmm... don't know of different names, but different pronouciation is common (some Bangladeshis say something more like 'gorom moshola' - guess its one of those phonetic things (like Nan, Naan, Nun etc...)

I think I read somewhere that besides Urdhu and Hindi there are something like 63 distinctly different languages plus loads of different dialects on the Indian subcontinent. So not suprising then
