The weather in your yard today.
« on: January 16, 2019, 07:38 AM »
Unprecedented weather across Australia.  80 year records broken and temps of up to 49'C. Some places the hottest since records began in 1904.  Warning signs on railway platforms telling train drivers to slow down due to extreme heat causing lines to buckle.  I'm expecting 40'C by Friday / Saturday and my surfer's ear (exostosis) has given me an ear infection so I can't put my head under in the swimming pool.

This is yesterday and today is hotter.  Tomorrow and Friday progresively hotter still.

Friday looks like it could be a no go outdoors day. Might be a good time to wrestle some Balti pans for measuring ingredients and try a pressure cooked version of the Latif base.  ;)   I bought a half leg of lamb this arvo so I'll bone that out tomorrow and see what I can rustle up.  I have some frozen Tikka Botti left over from NYE so a CTM is looking a goer as well.  I might not need the tandoor. Just slide them on the skewers and put them in the sun.

It really is fry eggs on a shovel weather.

Ouch! That is Hot.

For me, here is a forecast/warning released just this morning although TV forecasters have been hinting at it since the weekend.

"Thanks to a stiff breeze, with gusts of more than 20 miles per hour, it will feel much colder, around -6C at times.  There is also a small chance of sleet in the early hours tomorrow.

"There will also be some wintry showers about, mainly over hills and mountains but also to some lower levels at times, most likely in parts of Scotland and northern, eastern and central England.

"The first widespread snow of the year has also been forecast for this weekend.  The Met Office is predicting a 50-60 per cent chance of snow between midnight and 9am on Saturday"

Where I live, it is 720ft (220m) above sea level, so we will see some snow.

I will most likely be searching the many excellent Vindaloo recipes tomorrow before heading out shopping, to make sure I have all the ingredients I need, including a 7kg sack of onions as I am down to my last 2 or 3 loose at the bottom of the sack.
