I've now got my power blender up and running and, I agree with you - this thing is a heavyweight beast. But it's possibly a bit OTT because neither my Kenwood Major blender or standalone Aldi blender (500w for only

Used mine in earnest this evening, George, to make a mango lassi
[1]
. Very impressed. The "ice-breaker" mode makes short work of smashing the ice cubes, and then you need only the lowest power setting in blender mode to produce the lassi. Went down very well after an egg-and-anchovy sandwich !
