Tumeric Stain Removal
«
on:

Hi all,
Today I knocked over some tumeric and quite a bit fell on the kitchen floor. Does anybody know how to remove the stain that this has left? I used a spray cleaner to get the worst of it off but it is still very noticeable (memo to self - get a yellowish orange floor in the kitchen of the next house).

What material is your floor made of? That might limit what products you can use. And what kind of spray cleaner did you use?

Hi King Prawn, Have you tried washing up liquid with a touch of lemon juice. { If you flooring is solid wood it might have soaked in though } ordinary laminates should be okay as long as you don't use any bleach based cleaner. Good Luck. Paul

With out knowing the surface material i cant be
of much help, come to think of it even if i did know
i still dont have much to offer.
However !
Good news is it will fade over time and you wont
see it.
I myself have the same stain on the floor but you cant see it now for the
coffee, tea and pie and mushy pea stains. Oh I forgot the dog....
(I have just deleted the last few lines as you can see where it was going,
I would like to put fellow curry monsters minds at rest and say
"hes only a very small dog"
Dont worry about the stain man, its going to happen again ;D

EDIT...it me again !!
I just noticed a link for "laminate floor cleaner" at the bottom left
of this very screen Ummmmm !!
(stroking my chin) ummmmmmmm !!!
Heres the link...

I find lemon fairy liquid works very well on worktops or fresh lemon or lime juice. Just squeeze juice over the stain and leave for awhile, it should be done almost immediately after spillage.

I have stained my Turbo Hob thing before & find leaving neet Bleach on the White Plastic for a few seconds helps accelerate the fading process.

The yellow colour of turmeric is caused by curcumin..
Curcumin is stable when heated but is not stable when exposed to light, so to remove the stain, first clean with methylated spirits and place the object in light.
taken from the book "Does anything eats wasps?"
Guess its the vampire spice
hope this helps all all those peeps who live in yellow houses .
Ashes ;D
