Finger food?
« on: November 22, 2015, 08:23 PM »
Hey all,

Not a regular contributor here, but a regular user of the recipes for sure.

I'm after some recipes for spicy finger food that will be tasty and safe eaten cold.

Our local rugby club doesn't do anything on New Year's Eve due to expense/the youngsters going clubbing but the bar is open and some of the more "veteran" members meet up to abuse the juke box and have a beer fest.

The form is that everyone brings a platter, it's usually sandwiches or crisps/dips but I'd like to do something a wee bit more chilli-head oriented.

Pointers or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

How about some Pakoras or Samosas?

Samosa are an idea, I find pakora a bit "iffy" cold, maybe it's my batter!

Pani Puri always goes down well at parties. Easy to prepare if you buy ready made puri's.

Panipuri look good, might have to try a practice batch or two & curry puffs look like ideal.

Thanks guys, will get a couple of chutneys together too and that's me in the clear.

You'll be drinking beer out of each others' [moderated] in no time!  ;D

Best of luck with it though, sounds fun :)

I love Pani Puri but yet to find somewhere in the UK that offers them.

You should always be able to find them in a sweet centre.

I'd certainly second samosas as a "can't go wrong" choice.
I've tried various ways of making them ... the filling is the easy bit, it's what's easiest to wrap them in.

I've tried making the authentic dough (faffy), using chappatis, tortilla wraps etc, but by far the easiest, most successful and nicest (in my opinion anyway) is Chinese spring roll wrappers (normally doubled up) or normal filo pastry.
