Well, the only person with that name that my research threw up was a popular musician, but I assumed from the context that you were talking of a television "personality" chef or restaurateur of whom I had not heard ...

Well, in my (admittedly very limited) experience, the collocation "popular musician" is usually also an oxymoron ...

I believe a person who mmmm??? "sings", is known as a vocalist, whilst one who produces music using an instrument is a musician. A member (or X-member) of a boyband would be something different to both of the above.

By the way, I think Garp has tricked us into thinking that only 1 is an April fool's day jest.
