littlechillie - you are right that 4mm aluminium is a far better material if you need to use the pot for much more than simply heating liquid. I also like the chunky, commercial look of your pot and, for what it is, GBP32.93 (incl p/p) is good value.
But for making base sauce where you start with loads of water and never let any sauce boil down to anywhere near dry, I suggest the Wilko pot is a bargain, and more than adequate.
One or two reviews on the Wilko web page are correct in that ingredients may burn if mis-using the stainless pot for much shallow frying, but who needs to use a 15 litre stock pot for shallow frying?
They are also correct that the base is not flat. The central area is inset for some reason. It's perfect for my gas hob.
