Garp,

Much appreciated.

The last like this i came across was ub's pasta bake which has been huge success for me.

This looks on same par. I even like the meat combo idea.

Trying it out for sure.

very decent mid week nosh.

would caramelise the onion next go to add sweetness into the sauce. feel a smidge of cheese would not go a miss too depending on personal likes.

our cannellini beans (asda) are only part cooked and needed to have gone in before the 20 min cook.

remain still excited about this dish wanting to explore it more and will post if i get anywhere. first up would be to try butter beans then chick peas. the options to personalise the recipe look really good - eg for me 1 tsp of garlic powder must for next go.

for info i blended the finished sauce and poured into penne pasta.

many thanks Garp for posting

Thanks for trying it Jerry, and for you're review  :)

As you say, there is huge scope for variations and I'll certainly look out for any creations you come up with.

What sausages did you use?

What sausages did you use?

it shows you know your stuff - a very good question.

this dish really is about the sausage with a nice background sauce.

i kept it simple on this 1st go - so i could judge the sauce - i used 1 smoked pork.

i'm sort of pulled now - do i stick to your mix or try the butchers sausage. i like chorizo and hot dog. i've never tried kabanos and its next on my list.

i guess it's the beauty of the dish - i think i would go butchers sausage and chorizo at the mo.

I'd go with your gut instinct mate, although the kabanos are nice and also add a bit of texture, but so does chorizo.

I'm thinking about trying some of those German or Polish ones that are becoming more common now in supermarkets but have no idea which ones  :)

Any advice appreciated.
