« on: June 27, 2014, 06:35 PM »
Since Mrs G is out for dinner tonight with her mate, and I can't be @rsed making something, have ordered takeaway. Went for Bengali tonight as Chewy's always raving about them :)

Half an hour to go before arrival, so will report back later.

Masaledar Badak
Lamb Jarjala
Plain Naan

Looking forward to it :)

Excellent Garp!  A few pics would be nice if you get chance.  The more porn the better.

Well, you've certainly got my taste buds going with this. ;) I know the Duck starter, but I haven't heard of the Jarjala. Funnily enough, I'm sure I've had the Duck in an Nepalese Restaurant, but I may be wrong. :)
Looking forward to any porn if poss............Oh, and enjoy, hope it comes soon!....... ;D

Would that be from the Taste of Bengal by any chance?

Where else in this small town mate :)

I know the Duck starter

Well spotted on the duck Dan.

Anyway, according to the menu:

Masalader Badak: Finely shredded duck breast, lightly spiced and served wrapped in a puri on a bed of mint and yogurt sauce.

Lamb Jarjala: Cooked with garlic, chilli, mustard paste and cream - garnished with spring onion and red pepper.

Verdict:

Haven't had the starter yet though had a wee taste of the duck and it was good.

The Lamb Jarjala was very nice. I'm not good at picking out particular hints of certain spices (and not pretentious enough to pretend). It was medium hot, oniony, garlicky, very nice thickish texture and the lamb was melt in the mouth. Little or no tomatoes.  What more do you want?

Being used to eating Punjabi dishes, I felt the background spicing was more subtle and less in-yer-face than the dishes I am used to - but a nice kick of chilli. No bad thing.

Overall, no complaints :)

Porn warning - first up the starter which I have just laid out for future eating:

Lamb Jarjala - looks quite bland but tasted lovely.

Glad it tasted good. To be honest tho, it does all look a bit..... brownish! ;)
